Hallmark Health Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization. Although we receive payment from Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance companies for services provided, we do not turn away any patient who is underinsured or uninsured. Today, contributions from individuals–grateful patients, patients’ families, and to their friends–have never been more important to our agency’s ability to provide all patients with the finest care possible.
To continue to meet the needs of these patients and families, we rely on community contributions. Donated funds are also used to provide Palliative Care and Hospice patients with Complementary Therapies. These therapies help to control pain and add to the quality of life for our patients, and would not be possible without the generous support from our families and friends.
Oftentimes we are asked by patients, families, and friends, “What can we do to help your agency? How can we thank you?”
There are many ways to assist Hallmark Health VNA and Hospice, and here are some suggestions:
Memorial and Tribute Gifts
A memorial gift to our agency is a way to honor the memory of someone close to you. Many families and friends choose to honor the loved one by making a donation to our agency “in lieu of flowers.”
A tribute gift is made to honor a living individual. A tribute gift may be given to mark a special occasion, or it may be given to express gratitude for services provided by a nurse or another member of the patient’s care team.
When we receive a memorial or tribute gift, we send an acknowledgment to the donor, and the family or individual will receive an acknowledgment of the gift.
Donations can be made by check, made payable to Hallmark Health VNA and Hospice, to: 178 Savin St., Suite 300 Malden, MA 02148 or through our secure online donation service.
Gifts by Will
Through various types of bequests to Hallmark Health VNA and Hospice, the donor may secure a charitable estate-tax deduction for the value of the gift.
Gifts of Assets
One of the simplest ways to support Hallmark Health VNA and Hospice is through cash gifts. Gifts of assets can include stocks, bonds, mutual funds, life insurance, and personal property.
Gifts of Life Income
Life-income gifts, such as gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts, can provide donors with an income stream, significant tax savings and the personal satisfaction of providing Hallmark Health VNA and Hospice with long-term support for programs and services.
Gifts of Retirement Benefits
Retirement-plan benefits include assets held in individual retirement accounts (IRAs) and assets held in accounts under 401 (k) plans, various company profit-sharing plans, Keogh plans, and 403(b) plans.
Charitable Lead Trusts
A donor can arrange his transfers or property to support Hallmark Health VNA and Hospice and take care of their loved ones.
Although many of the gifts we receive are used for general patient expenses, some patients and their families like to direct gifts to a particular program that has special meaning to them. Gifts may be directed to one of these specific programs:
•Patient Services, such as Complementary Therapies for Palliative Care and Hospice
•Education Programs for professional and family caregivers, and the general public
•Bereavement and Volunteer Services
•Technology, such as telehealth units and clinician laptops
Many employers offer a matching gifts program. By participating in such a program, your employer will match your donation in its entirety or match a portion of your donation to Hospice. If your employer or your spouse’s employer has a Matching Gifts Program, you can receive a form from the employer.
